Slatted Screen Fencing in Reading & Berkshire

Ideal for Walls, Boundaries & Garden Features

Slatted screen fencing has become one of the most sought-after styles in contemporary garden design, and it’s easy to see why. The clean horizontal lines of a slatted screen give any garden a modern, architectural feel. At the same time, the gaps between the slats allow light to pass through and the garden to breathe, something a traditional solid fence simply can’t offer.

At Reading Fencing, we build all our slatted screens on-site from individual components, so every screen can be made exactly to your specification.

  • Want wider gaps for more light and airflow?
  • Narrower gaps for more privacy?
  • A screen that sits on top of an existing brick wall?
  • Or a full-height boundary fence from the ground up?

We can do all of it.

One of the most popular uses of slatted screening is to hide eyesores, bins, sheds, air conditioning units, or utility areas, without completely enclosing them. A slatted screen provides a stylish visual barrier while still allowing ventilation.

Timber options for slatted screens

We most commonly work with hardwood and western red cedar for slatted screens. Both are excellent choices:

Western red cedar – naturally resistant to rot and insects, lightweight, and beautiful when freshly cut. It weathers to a distinguished silver-grey over time, or can be oiled or stained to maintain its warm, reddish colour.

Hardwood – extremely durable and dense, with a rich appearance. A hardwood slatted screen will last for decades with minimal maintenance.

Both options can be left to weather naturally or treated with an oil or stain to enhance and preserve their colour. We’ll talk through the options with you at your free site survey.
